Hang on to the ladders to avoid a fall with Donkey Kong.

It's 1981, a loaf of bread costs 89 cents, and Donkey Kong has taken over the arcade scene. DK has gone through many an evolution, but this original game involved simply getting Mario up a bunch of ladders - which is our topic for today.

For this game, you'll watch a short video about ladder setup, pick a "death ladder" to assess, and play a ladder safety game.

Complete all 3 activities to earn 3 Barry Bucks.

You'll be entered to win: A Heavy-Duty Foldable Step Stool

Activity 1: Take an Isett U Course

To familiarize folks with the new Isett U, we are integrating some courses into safety month!

For Blue's Journey into Plant Life, we're going to have you watch:

Once you are logged into Isett U, you can click the link (or video pic) above.

Any issues logging in to Isett U?

Activity 2: Check out the "Death Ladders"

In Donkey Kong, a "death ladder" would be the one DK is currently sending a barrel down.

In real life, these are the ones that are super dangerous for one reason or another.

Some of these ladders have been featured in the "Death Stairs" Facebook Group, others seen by Isett Associates.

While amusing to look at, if you see any ladders like this, do not climb them.

Click on each picture to enlarge.

You will pick one ladder to point out issues with on the cash-in form.

Activity 3: Play the Ladder Safety Game

I'm the first to admit, this game is a little frustrating to click around(it works best in Chrome!)

But the info is good - so give it a try at WorkSafeBCs Ladder Safety Game.

It's not too helpful with the order either, so here's a hint:

First, pick your ladder height. Then what you should do before climbing. 3rd, Pick your ground type. Then your aspect ratio for setup. 5th, put your tools away. Lastly, pick what you'll do once you climb.

Just for Fun: Watch a Playthrough!

Absolutely no pressure to watch this, but if you're curious about what the original Donkey Kong looks like, here's a playthrough on Youtube!
